David Batista combines his civil litigation expertise, a scientific background, and a deep dedication to veterans’ advocacy in how he practices law. Specializing in VA disability claims, David is committed to helping veterans navigate the VA system and secure the benefits they’ve earned through their service.
David’s educational foundation is both unique and valuable to his work. He graduated from Cornell University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, concentrating in Neurobiology and Behavior. This scientific training enhances his understanding of the physical and psychological complexities veterans face, allowing him to approach cases with a nuanced perspective on his clients’ needs. In 2021, he earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, with a concentration in Law & Technology—a blend of skills that positions him to serve veterans with both precision and insight.
Veterans’ advocacy is a cause close to David’s heart. His husband, a veteran and co-founder of the Cornell Undergraduate Veterans Association, inspired David’s early involvement in veterans’ support. During his time at Cornell, David played an active role in this group, which became the university’s first veterans advocacy organization. This experience deepened his dedication to serving veterans and fueled his commitment to support veterans of all backgrounds.
David’s legal career began with a judicial clerkship in the Superior Court of New Jersey, where he gained a thorough understanding of the judicial system. Following his clerkship, he practiced as a residential real estate attorney, working primarily with veteran clients as they navigated the VA loan process. This experience gave him firsthand insight into the challenges veterans face when accessing benefits. Motivated to make an even greater impact, David transitioned to focus exclusively on veterans disability law, where he uses his expertise to advocate for those who need it most.
Admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina and accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs, David is well-equipped to guide veterans through the complexities of VA disability claims. His dedication to justice and commitment to his client’s well-being make him a valued advocate for veterans at VetLaw and WHG.
