Matthew Greig—a shareholder at Werner, Hoffman, Greig & Garcia, VetLaw’s parent company—is a former U.S. Army Captain and VA-accredited attorney who dedicates his practice to serving veterans, injured individuals, and workers across various complex legal matters. With a focus on veterans’ disability benefits, personal injury, product liability, and workers’ compensation, Matthew combines his military background with extensive legal expertise to advocate for those who need it most—particularly veterans facing the challenges of VA claim denials.
Matthew’s service journey began in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he served as a Captain with the XVIII Airborne Corps. He started his career providing legal assistance in family, estate, and tax matters for fellow servicemen and women. His path then led him to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he advised commanders and allied forces on operational and legal matters. These firsthand experiences in active duty, along with his deep understanding of operational law, have made him uniquely equipped to address the needs of veterans navigating complex legal issues today.
After six years of dedicated military service, Matthew transitioned into private practice, joining a multinational law firm based in New Orleans. Despite this shift, his heart remained with his fellow servicemen and women. As a trustee of the only active VFW post in New Orleans, Matthew extended his support to veterans facing legal and personal challenges, even contributing to efforts to restore a WWII PT boat, a historical symbol of service and sacrifice. This commitment ultimately led him to establish his own firm, allowing him to provide focused assistance to veterans in the New Orleans community.
Today, Matthew continues his mission at Werner, Hoffman, Greig & Garcia, where he channels his passion for justice into every case. His decorated military career and active community involvement have prepared him to stand by those who have been injured or denied benefits, with an unyielding drive to see their rights upheld. Matthew understands the frustrations of a VA claim denial and fights relentlessly for his clients, knowing the impact that positive outcomes can have on their lives.
